There are more than 400 different varieties of chilies found all over the world. The world’s hottest chili “Naga Jolokia” is cultivated in hilly terrain of Assam in a small town Tezpur, India. 

Chili found its way in Ayurveda, the traditional Indian medical system.

According to Ayurveda, chili has many medicinal properties such as stimulating good digestion and endorphins, a natural pain killer to relieve pains.

India has become world’s largest producer and exporter of chili, exporting to USA, Canada, UK, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Malaysia, Germany and many countries across the world.

 It contributes 25% of world’s total production of chili. Some of the hottest chilies are grown in India. Indian chilies have been dominating international chili market. 

Majority of chili grown in India is cultivated in states such as Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Orissa.

Uses

Byadagi chilli is an important ingredient in spicy preparations like Bisi bele bath, sambar, chutneys and other food items of South India and is widely used in the Udupi cuisine. It is also used in meat preparations because of the bright red colour that it imparts to the meat.
Due to high pungency, aroma & Color S17 Teja chilli is very much suitable for Indian, Chinese, American, European, Thai, Italian, & Japanese cuisines. It is also used for the extraction and derivation of capsaicin.

Uses

S-4 sannam chilli is rich in vitamin C (185 mg/ 100 g) and protein (11.98g/100g).
S-4 sannam chillies are good for slimming down body as it burns the calorie easily. Chillies stimulate the appetite, help to clear the lungs, and stimulate digestive system.
334 red chilli are very rich in Vitamin C and Pro-Vitamin a. in addition 334 chilli are a good source of most B vitamin and Vitamin B6 in particular.
Red chilli are full of beta-carotene.
